Brand activation through Signs and wayfinding.

We recently worked alongside a local council who were funding building enhancement or new sign installations for local companies within the town centre. This was part of a streetscape enhancement initiative and we lent advice on navigating the planning applications required. This project got us thinking about the various ways we have worked alongside the local small business community.

Working with commercial clients gives insight to the importance of company brands and how they are applied to buildings and spaces. Internally, signs help with department way finding but more important are the ones on display for all to see. Signs are essential for businesses because they serve as silent salespeople and crucial for positioning brands within their context.

Paste Dental

Well-designed signage increases a business’s visibility, making it easier for clients or customers to find you. We collaborated with Dr Alan Clarke at Paste Dental in Belfast to deliver a creative solution for building signs.

The Dublin Road is so busy it was key to land a design that had presence day or night. Our thought process focused on strategic placement combined with a design to match the brand aesthetic. The resulting solution to stand out looks good any time of the day.

Our expertise helped navigate the planning consent process through manufacture and installation. We worked closely SIGN Craft to make sure all elements of the design intent were achieved.

Ways in which we can help

We believe our 30+ years of experience with commercial clients make us adept at supporting design inputs to their physical spaces. Full construction and fit-out projects are great, but we do value being able to give advice on a physical space and see local small business benefit from thoughtful design input.

Design - as mentioned, we have worked with many retailers and business clients. This experience broadens our knowledge of how signs

can be creatively designed, material finishes, illumination requirements - all of which speak to the companies brand identity. Furthermore, we have worked with as many signage contractors who we trust can deliver on the design brief.

Planning - In most circumstances, companies will require statutory approval for signs. The legislation covering this is substantial to read - see here. ‘Consent to Advertise’ is the requisite application from a planning perspective and is a process carried out by the local authorities within the various council departments. We have broad experience in these applications across Ireland.

If design or planning for signs is something that your company would like to know more about, please feel free to drop us an email for advice.
